The new Piraeus Metro Station, built beneath the avenue next to the historic station, is classified as an underwater project due to its proximity to the sea. I participated as the architect–designer for Mevaco, the factory responsible for the station’s complete metal cladding package.
Unlike other metro stations in Athens, this one contains no marble cladding. Every perimeter wall, ceiling, and concrete column is fully wrapped in galvanized, electrostatically painted steel panels. To meet the tight construction schedule, I assembled a small team (Thanassis Malevitis, George Felekis, Jim Kalavriotis) and developed a single digital fabrication model in the station’s coordinate system.
From this model we produced the full set of deliverables for Mevaco: 2D component drawings, assembly drawings, montage drawings, and installation drawings — enabling the factory to manufacture and deliver the metal cladding on time.
